Cantabile String Quartet

Based in Los Angeles, California

Formed in 2024, the Cantabile Quartet unites current and former members of the Pasadena Community Orchestra who share a deep love of chamber music. Though each member maintains a full-time professional career outside of music—Jane Yu (violin I) is a pediatric dentist, Melissa Froehlich (violin II) is the Development Director at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, David Lee Ruest (viola) is a real estate agent with Keller Williams Los Feliz, and Monica Kohler (cello) is a research professor of civil engineering at Caltech—they come together to create meaningful musical experiences. The quartet enjoys performing for non-profit organizations in support of purposeful causes and in unique concert venues that connect music with community, with a repertoire ranging from Baroque and Classical works to Romantic pieces and contemporary pop covers.
